1. Pray
Now I don't mean praying like, "Dear God, I know I have not studied more than three hours this whole semester for this class, but if you could in your infinite way give me all the answers or cause a snow storm to hit my school, I will dedicate my life solely to you." God has been hearing this kind of prayer all the way back to when His own son was in school. It's called a prayer of desperation and although God could very well send a snowstorm to your school in May, He probably won't. So save that kind of prayer for when you are hanging off a burning building or a shark is attacking you.
Praying during finals should look more like asking the Holy Spirit for wisdom during your tests. For me, knowing that Jesus was bigger than my finals always made me feel better. You ask God into every aspect of your life right? That means school too. Stop, take a deep breath and pray for Jesus to protect your heart and mind while you take your tests. You will find you don't stress out as much when you have Jesus for a study buddy.
Save that kind of prayer for when you are hanging off a burning building...2. Eat
You may think that all you body needs is Red Bull and Cheetos, but a recent survey taken by me in my backyard asking my dogs proves that eating healthy during finals increases the smart juices in your brain. Although Dr. Pepper and Top Ramen is a quick and cheap meal, it gives you nothing that your body deserves while it is working so hard to get you through finals. Do yourself a favor and eat healthy balanced meals. Your brain and your waistline will appreciate it.
3. Sleep
Sure, those eight hammerhead espressos felt great going down but they are no substitute for good old sleep. Your brain needs to have some down time and God knows that, that's why He created nighttime and pillows. If you get a good night's sleep before your test, your brain will thank you by rewarding your body with grateful endorphins...ahhhhhh.
4. Study
OK, this one might be a bit obvious, but that attitude of "I already know what I know. There is no use studying anymore." is just plain dumb. Go over your notes and read up on those study guides. Contrary to popular belief your teachers are not out to get you; they want you to pass your test. Seek out their help, attend a study group or just read by yourself, but get cracking!
5. Exercise
Your brain might just be about to explode, and if you are stressed out your body knows it. Take 20 minutes out of your day and go for a run, a swim, a bike ride... Oh, heck why not just complete a triathlon and get it out of the way! Exercise helps your body relax, which in turn lets your brain focus at the task at hand: acing your finals, getting into a good school and making millions to support me I mean doing the best you can with the brain God gave you.
5 1/2. Pray Harder
When all else fails know that finals are not the end of the world, the end of the world is when God says. Only He knows when that is, and He ain't telling. So relax, tell God you love Him and (if you must) pray for snow.
